At least three people were killed and more than 10 injured in a new wave of Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials.
In Kyiv, firefighters were responding to an overnight fire at a market that was struck during the attacks. Air-raid sirens sounded four times in the capital from Saturday night, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least six people, including a child, were reported injured.
Ukraine said its air defences shot down three Russian missiles and nearly 100 drones.
Two people were killed in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia after a Russian guided aerial bomb destroyed a house, regional head Ivan Fedorov said. Officials in the Dnipropetrovsk region separately reported one death and 14 injuries.
Drone claims around Moscow
Russian authorities said Ukraine also launched a large drone attack towards Moscow overnight. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said about 600 Ukrainian drones had been directed at the capital and that roughly one-third had been destroyed. He said three people were injured in the strike.
Sobyanin said a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, an online retailer, was hit in Koledino, about 25km from central Moscow. Videos showed a fire and a large plume of smoke above the site.
Wildberries has been repeatedly targeted since July. Kyiv said at that time it was striking logistics hubs used by Russians to purchase military equipment, with the aim of disrupting supplies to the Russian army.
Separately, Romania’s defence ministry said a Spanish F-18 fighter jet on Nato duties shot down a drone after it entered Romanian airspace near the borders with Ukraine and Moldova. The ministry said the drone had entered from Moldova and that debris fell in an unpopulated area of the Galati region.
