Katy Perry and Former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau Go Instagram Official After Tokyo Trip
Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau appear to have taken their rumored relationship public, after the pop star shared a series of photos and videos from their recent visit to Japan.
One of the images posted on Instagram shows the pair posing closely together for a smiling selfie, while another clip captures them sampling sushi. Neither Perry nor Trudeau has offered any direct comment on the nature of their relationship, though the posts have intensified speculation that has been building for months.
Trudeau was previously spotted at one of Perry’s concerts earlier this year — a moment that prompted early whispers of a romance. Perry has been touring Japan as part of her worldwide Lifetimes tour.
The 41-year-old captioned her latest Instagram carousel: “Tokyo times on tour and more.” Around the same time, Trudeau, 53, reshared a photo of the pair alongside former Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko. He wrote on X that he and Perry were “glad to have the chance to sit down” with the couple, thanking Kishida for his “friendship” and commitment to a better future.
Public intrigue heightened further last month, when the duo were photographed holding hands during an outing in Paris — images and footage published by TMZ that appeared to mark their first public appearance as a couple. The event coincided with Perry’s 41st birthday.
Representatives for both Perry and Trudeau did not respond to requests for comment.
During a recent London tour stop, Perry hinted playfully at her relationship status. After a fan proposed to her from the crowd, she quipped: “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago,” shortly after the Paris photographs emerged.
Perry previously shared a 10-year relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. The former couple, who have one daughter together, separated earlier this year.
Trudeau served as Canada’s prime minister from 2015 to 2025. His marriage to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau ended in 2023 after 18 years, and they share three children.
