Nepal says it will require billions in funding to rebuild after deadly flash floods on its border with Tibet, as authorities begin recovery work in areas left covered by debris and rubble.
At least 1,200 people have died in the floods, while thousands more remain missing, according to the information reported by the BBC.
Villages and roads have been covered by the aftermath of the flooding, complicating the initial effort to begin reconstruction.
Scientists are still examining the exact cause of the flash floods. Nepal is among the countries considered most vulnerable to the climate crisis, despite being one of the lowest emitters of global greenhouse-gas emissions.
The scale of the funding requirement reflects the challenge facing authorities as they seek to rebuild affected communities and infrastructure.
